Great South Coast Regional Industry and Skills Roundtable
Victorian Skills Commissioner Neil Coulson and Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney hosted a targeted roundtable in Warrnambool on 28 July to discuss industry and skills in the Great South Coast region.
More than 25 industry leaders converged at South West TAFE to examine growth and change in the region, barriers and opportunities to meeting industry skill demands and current pathways linking students to local employment opportunities.
Mr Coulson, who chaired the roundtable, said the meeting was crucial to gather intelligence on local industry and identify where training gaps are.
“One of our priorities is to better align training to the skills people need to get the jobs they want in our regions and that meet local industry needs,” Mr Coulson said.
“It is very important to hear from the key industry players in the Great South Coast region to provide us with a deeper level of intelligence and perspective on regional skilling issues so we can shape training to address their needs.”
