Key Outcomes - 21 February 2008
At its 21 February 2008 meeting the Victorian Skills Commission (VSC):
- received a presentation on the Office of Small Business initiative My Business, My People
- noted the findings of the VSC’s Skilling Victoria’s Mature Workforce report; agreed to publish the report in print and web format; and established an Implementation Working Group to refine actions arising from the project and monitor and review activity and outcomes relating to increasing participation of mature age workers in skills development and employment
- approved the concept of existing employees having access to funded traineeships and associated State Government incentives in limited, defined circumstances; approved a 24-month pilot for existing employees undertaking a Certificate IV traineeship to gain the qualification for Division 2 Nursing, with any extension beyond this pilot requiring further approval of the VSC based on criteria agreed at the meeting
- noted the findings and recommendations of a report on Improving Planning Inputs and Outputs; and endorsed actions taken to refine and enhance planning inputs and outputs
- established a VSC Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs) Working Group to undertake, in conjunction with OTTE, a consultation process with stakeholders on the renewal of Performance Funding Agreements (PFAs), oversee the assessment of ITAB performance under the 2005/ 08 PFAs, and prepare recommendations on the next round of PFAs with ITABs
- approved changed processes to both dispute resolution and mutual consent with parties to a training contract
- noted the VSC Audit and Risk Committee performance review report; approved the revised VSC Audit and Risk Committee charter; and approved the VSC 2008 risk management plan
- noted the status of projects related to competency based completions in the Engineering industry.
