Victorian Skills Commissioner and Victorian Registrations and Qualifications Authority sign MOU
Victorian Skills Commissioner (VSC), Mr Neil Coulson together with Victorian Registrations and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) Chief Executive Officer, Ms Lynn Glover signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Friday May 24, 2019.
The VRQA is an independent authority that works to assure the quality of education and training in Victoria, it applies standards to education and training providers and accredits courses and qualifications.
The MOU outlines both parties’ agreement to provide mutual assistance:
• to allow both organisations to exercise our powers and functions in relation to apprentices and trainees
• when consulting industry stakeholders about qualifications to be available as apprenticeships or traineeships
• when determining appropriate trade titles and rules for issuing trade papers
• on any new initiatives from the VSC that are designed to drive new apprenticeship and traineeship uptake by employers.
This MOU will improve the regulation of apprenticeships and traineeships, ensuring that students gain the skills they need for work.
