Great South Coast Regional Skills Demand Profile Launched

The Victorian Skills Commissioner, Mr Neil Coulson, launched the Great South Coast Regional Skills Demand Profile at Keppell Prince Engineering in Portland today.

The Profile is an outcome of the Regional Skills Taskforce – Great South Coast Region. Comprising prominent Great South Coast business leaders, the Regional Skills Taskforce was established in December 2017 and chaired by Commissioner Coulson.

The Profile found skills challenges and opportunities across the Healthcare and Social Assistance, Horticulture, Hospitality and Tourism, Transport, Automotive and Port Operations, Retail, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Construction and Aquaculture industries.

“It is vital that the VET system is aligned to the needs of industry. The Skills Demand Profile will provide a valuable evidence base to reflect the skilling needs of the region, and allow the Victorian government to shape and fund relevant training programs in response to this demand” Mr Coulson said.
