Victorian Skills Commissioner visits Robinvale for Mallee Regional Skills Taskforce meeting

Skills shortages and workforce training needs topped the agenda at the third Mallee Regional Skills Taskforce meeting in Robinvale on 26 July.

Prominent Mallee business leaders and local council representatives met with the Victorian Skills Commissioner Neil Coulson to discuss the unique training and skills requirements of the region, workforce pressures and future industry growth priorities.

The taskforce, designed to highlight the importance of skills development in Victoria’s regions, will meet four times between May and November to ensure barriers to providing training to meet regional demand can be identified and overcome. The first meeting was held in Mildura on 22 May.

The taskforce will also identify any skills shortages and both existing and future workforce training needs and promote quality training pathways that lead to qualifications, skills development and jobs in the Mallee region.
