Wodonga TAFE Knowledge Share Conference
On 14 July, Victorian Skills Commissioner Neil Coulson addressed more than 150 Wodonga TAFE staff at the institution’s annual professional development day.
Facilitated by ABC Melbourne radio presenter Lindy Burns, the event was designed to bring campus staff together to share ideas and knowledge.
During Mr Coulson’s keynote address he updated the audience on the Victorian Government’s latest work under Skills First which offers real training for real jobs through high quality training that students and industry can trust.
He also talked about innovation and the need for vocational training to be continuously updated in line with technological advances as well as a better matching of workers to new opportunities.
Finally, Mr Coulson urged all those involved in the education and training sector to do their bit to equip the workforce with the skills that industry demands to ensure they’re preparing young people for the future and not training them for unemployment.
The event at La Trobe University in West Wodonga was hailed by organisers as a huge success.
